About this site
evansvillebbs.com is a history of the dial-up BBS scene in Evansville, Indiana and the Tri-State, roughly 1983 to 1999.
It's put together by Craig Kohler, who ran The Windows Source BBS, FidoNet 1:2310/3, in the mid-90s. [NH][EVV95] The Windows Source is being brought back from its original backup over at windowssourcebbs.com, and this site is the bigger picture: all the other boards that made up the local scene.
How it's built
- Board info comes from public sources: Jason Scott's textfiles.com 812 list, the March 1995 Evansville BBS list, the FidoNet nodelist history, and the people and sites listed on the sources page.
- Every fact links to a source. If we can't source it, it doesn't go up.
- Contributions are reviewed by hand and never published automatically.
Thanks
To Jason Scott and textfiles.com for saving the BBS lists, to Pavel Gulchouck for the FidoNet nodelist history, to the Internet Archive, and to Gary Barr, whose Digicom BBS museum keeps a big piece of Evansville's BBS history alive. Digicom also put out the March 1995 Evansville list. [EVV95]
